Outdoor Grilling Requires The Right Tools
There’s something incredibly primal about cooking outside. This is true whether we’re out in the woods with a portable grill that can be easily toted up a mountainside and positioned over the coals for the most effective campfire cooking ever, or on an equally useful portable grill at a tailgating party or backyard picnic.
The beauty of portable grills – charcoal or propane – is that they go almost anywhere. I remember in college when we didn’t let the lack of a yard, or being on the second floor, stop us. What a handy thing a portable grill is when you can take it up to the roof and get that outdoor experience without having to break the ice in the morning before you can heat up water.
However, without the right accessories, this experience can get a little more primal than we really want. Skewering your marshmallows or hot dogs with a stick and charring them in the flames is all well and good, but have you ever tried that with a hamburger?
Spatulas, turning forks, tongs, grilling bowls, and grilling stations are all crucial accessories if we want to do the job right. This is especially true when we’re doing something like tailgating, where it’s expected that the food not fall on the ground or get burned to coal on the coals. Using a portable grill to entertain and impress friends goes over much better when we have the right grill accessories. And, despite the joy of that primal experience, this holds true for camping grills as well. After all, do you know where that tree-branch has been?
