Grilling is hot! Whether I’m using a propane or charcoal grill, camping, tailgating or backyarding, it’s a great way to cook and spend time with friends and family. But unless I’m grilling in a blizzard, it can also get hot, especially on long summer afternoons in the park. That’s why I highly recommend getting the right cooler now so you won’t have to worry about too little water and tepid sodas spoiling an otherwise wonderful day.
Aluminum, plastic, and steel eco-friendly water bottles are all great at holding liquids, but not so much when it comes to temperature. To solve this, I always use some type of insulating cooler that fits all my needs. The Coleman steel-belted picnic cooler is great for those park, beach, and tailgating events, where I need to transport a lot of ice and liquid and maintain the temperature for a long time. With its solid build and great carrying capacity, it can’t be beat.
However, there are times when that may be a bit more than I want to tote. This is where soft coolers – one of the best inventions ever – come in. With the 108 can softside cooler I can still keep more liquid than I’m likely to need cool for the whole afternoon, but it folds up for easy travel when my cans and bottles are safely deposited in a recycling bin. Not to mention that one of the things that makes soft coolers so great is that they can be easily rinsed if some of the drinks escape prematurely.
I don’t even have to be grilling to find dozens of uses for picnic coolers and soft coolers. While they’re great recreationally, I can’t even count the times I had to forgo something cold and delicious at the store because I wasn’t going to get home before it melted. Frustrating! A hard or soft-sided cooler in my trunk solves that problem!
